As RWD e-Learning's chief learning technologist, David Metcalf is responsible for the analysis, design and strategic alignment of RWD's technology solutions for learning. Dr. Metcalf is responsible for the unique blend of development activities combining creative, instructional, and technical disciplines to produce technology solutions for training and knowledge management applications.

David Metcalf joined Merrimac/RWD in 1997 from I-NET, where he was the Lead Multimedia Designer at NASA's Kennedy Space Center. Dr. Metcalf was responsible for the management and operations of the multimedia laboratory, giving him first-hand knowledge of the latest methodologies and tools for multimedia development and delivery.

He ran the Web Interactive Training (WIT) project that produced several award-winning, Web based training applications that were given a Gold Award in the 1997 Multimedia and Internet Training awards. The project is cited extensively in Brandon Hall's Web-based Training Cookbook, a leading source for information and guidance on Web-based training course development and delivery.

He holds a B.A. in Computer Graphics from the University of Texas, an M.S. in Computer-Based Training and Learning and a Ph.D. in Information Systems from the School of Computer and Information Sciences at Nova Southeastern University.

Dr. Metcalf's Ph.D. dissertation, "Distributed Multimedia Information and Training Systems: Development of a Design Model for Interactive Training Using the World Wide Web as a Delivery System," was the model for Merrimac/RWD's CertificationNetª courseware design.
